T5 Data Centers isn’t a typical data-center builder. The company develops, operates, and leases data centers to enterprise customers across the United States. T5’s highly reliable data centers are built in the best markets and built the way an enterprise company would build their own facility. The data centers are built to withstand what the company calls “geographical bullets,” and are built and operated by the best teams in the industry.
Sure, the Atlanta-based company’s motto, “We build the data center you would build yourself,” nicely summarizes its mission, but there’s much more to it, says Robbie Sovie, the company’s vice president of development services. He says T5 has great appreciation for the quality companies that build first-class data centers, but few have the ability to offer a true turn-key project delivery via design, construction, commissioning, and security implementation. The company’s subsidiary, T5 Construction Services, was created to do just that, and now what started as an additional service for T5’s existing tenants is beginning to blossom as a turn-key offering outside of T5’s existing tenant base.
T5 Construction Services has a proven track record of providing turn-key construction projects from design to project completion. The company collaborates and manages the project through design, construction, commissioning, equipment procurement, security installation/commissioning, and project closeout. Sovie says T5 Construction Services also understands the importance of strict budget control, schedule adherence, safety protocol, and customer satisfaction.
“We utilize our vendor/consultant relationships throughout the industry to help us deliver projects quickly and economically,” he says. “Speed to market is key in the data center industry, and we excel in this arena.”
In addition to expedited deliveries, T5 works hand-in-hand with its customers to phase in data hall deployments to meet its customers’ “go live” dates.
“T5’s construction division excels with data center projects because we have the ability to look at projects both from an owner’s and general contractor’s perspective—because we play both roles,” Sovie says.
The company has a deep knowledge of mitigating risk through live operations and construction implementation. Collaborating with the facility management team is critical during the construction and commissioning phases.
In addition to T5 Construction Services, T5 offers other successful business services, including T5 Facility Management and T5 Enterprise Solutions (i.e. smart hands, migration services, etc.).
“Through natural evolution, we have successfully branded these first-class business offerings to provide added value for our tenants,” Sovie says. “As we’ve progressed our business initiatives, we’ve realized there are strategic third-party business opportunities that will lead to leasing activity within our data center facilities.”
A job that has so many moving parts might not be easy, but Sovie says he’s happy to do it.
“It takes a lot of coordination to design, build, and successfully commission a data center facility and/or data hall deployment,” he says. “We work with fantastic partners in the industry—and it’s fun to be part of a team that successfully delivers these facilities.”
